Quienes somos?
La
Federación Centroamericana de
Boxeo (Fecarbox) fue la primera en su clase, fundada a mediados
de los anos 70s, como una iniciativa del mexicano
José Sulaimán, cuando se
posesiona como presidente del
Consejo Mundial de Boxeo (CMB). Su constitución fue respaldada por
las comisiones de boxeo de Panamá, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El
Salvador, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Venezuela, México y República
Dominicana. En su creación, votaron los presidentes de comisiones
locales, resaltando Rodrigo Colon Sánchez de Panamá,
José Wenslao Mayorga de Nicaragua,
Roy Van Putten de Curazao y
Héctor “Toti” García de Puerto Rico.
En sus
inicios, Fecarbox se llamaba la Federación Centroamericana y del
Caribe de Boxeo. Pero, en el año 2001, se divide en dos federaciones
regionales, una Centroamérica (Fecarbox) y una del Caribe,
Federación del Caribe de
Boxeo (Cabofe). Igualmente, la
Federación Sudamericana de Boxeo (Fesubox) es parte integral del
conglomerado de federaciones regionales, que forman el titulo
Latino del CMB (WBC Latino).
En la actualidad, Fecarbox es presidida por Alberto Guerra, de Panamá, la Cabofe por Peter Abdool, de Guyana y Fesubox por Carlos Rodríguez, de Argentina.

EXAMPLARY BOXING ORGANIZATION

The FECARBOX
is formed by 9 countries Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala,
Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Mexico and part of the US.
Organized
boxing began in these countries early in the XX century. Mexico is
the mayor country in this organization followed by US. Mexico is
also the country that holds more FECARBOX champions.
Many great
champions have emerged from this region like Julio César Chávez,
Roberto Durán, Alexis Arguello, “Mantequilla Nápoles, Ultiminio
Ramos, Al Brown, Rubén Olivares, Ismael Laguna, Salvador Sánchez and
many more.
Also great
boxing people have emerge from here including the WBC president Jose
Sulaiman, WBC Executive Secretary Mauricio Sulaiman, Alberto Guerra,
Wenceslao “Chepito” Mayorga, Roy Van Putten and Héctor García. The
last two presided the organization when their respective countries,
Aruba and Puerto Rico, belonged to it. Are currently part of another
of our federations, known as CABOFE (Caribbean Boxing Federation).
Also great
promoters have emerged from here like Cuco Conde, Rafito Cedeño,
Luis Spada, Carlos Eleta, Evelio Areas, Nelson Aquiles Arrieta,
Pepito Cordero and many more.
Famous
managers and trainers have emerged from this region and have been
important part of the championships and history of boxing in
America.
Some of these
men are Fernando Mandry Galindez; Gilberto Mendoza (father and son),
Jesús Cova, Rafael Genatios, Elías Córdoba, Rodrigo Sánchez, Freddie
Shuck Ramón Pina Acevedo, Jacobo Teffel, Luis Portela, Camilo
Rinjschot, among many others.
Great
champions from this region and of all times are “Lumumba” Estaba,
Wilfredo Gómez, Carlos Ortiz, Kid Chocolate, Kid Gavilán, Carlos “Morocho”
Hernández, and many more great champions.
This region is full of great boxing activity and is one of the most important for the WBC.
